The United Negro College Fund’s 33rd Annual Evening of Stars fundraising ceremony was recorded on Sunday in Pasadena and will air on September 25 at 10 PM on BET.

Since 1944, the UNCF has provided scholarships to support the education of students at more than 35 member historically black colleges and universities. The organization’s slogan, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste,” is celebrating its 40th anniversary; this year, the UNCF will uphold their motto by providing 10,000 scholarships and educating more than 55,000 students.

The Evening of Stars always allows the top celebrities in the industry shine on stage, helping to raise money for a great cause. The legendary Patti LaBelle performed, along with Ledisi, Jill Scott, Anthony Hamilton, Erykah Badu, Miguel, Marsha Ambrosius, Musiq Soulchild and Estelle.

Nashville’s Finest :: @Lovenoise “Harder. Louder.”

There’s one name that is consistently associated with some of the best concerts and shows that Nashville has to offer, Lovenoise. Solely and through strategic partnerships, Lovenoise has been responsible for bringing some of the top artist in the industry to different venues throughout the city.

In January, Lovenoise kicked it off with the Stellar Awards, hosting concerts with a line up that consisted of Award winning artists and up-and-comings making their mark in the industry. From comedians like Mike Epps and Cedric the Entertainer, to hip hop legends Salt & Pepa, Biz Markie, Jazzy Jeff, Talib Kweli, ?uestlove and newcomer Wiz Khalifa, to R&B headliners El Debarge, Eric Roberson, Chrisette Michelle, Miguel, Melanie Fiona and Marsha Ambrosius; the caliber of show formats and artists continues to improve and keeps getting better.

Tonight, Lovenoise hosts Big K.R.I.T., formidably one of the top rappers to come out of the South in most recent years. The Mississippi native is generating a buzz the industry can’t deny and word is, he’s going to bring it all to the Mercy Lounge stage. Next week on June 25, Cedric the Entertainer, will hit the stage at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium. Followed by Lovenoise’s annual Independence Day Bash which will get the city ready to host Wiz Khalifa & Big Sean on July 8.

When The Queen’s Castle spoke to Lovenoise executive, Eric Holt, about the increased volume and quality of shows the company is offering, he shared, “We are at a place with Lovenoise where we are maximizing every opportunity. This year our motto is ‘Leave no show behind,’ and we are offering larger shows as frequently as possible.”

If the last several months are any example of what we can expect for the rest of the year and years to come, Lovenoise will keep doing it best, but harder and louder, than anyone else in their industry.

Through the Lens :: @BET’s Rip the Runway

BET’s 7th annual celebration of music and fashion, Rip the Runway, was taped last night at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. Keri Hilson, Miguel, Melanie Fiona and Lloyd performed while models walked in designs by Rachel Roy, LaQuan Smith, Man vs. Machine, Lila Nikole, and more.

Rip the Runway is hosted by Selita Ebanks and Mechad Brooks, and will broadcast on BET, Monday, March 21.

When Usher Raymond brought his OMG Tour to Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on December 26th, the Chattanooga native was at home in Tennessee! With half of his life dedicated to his craft, it’s no question why Usher headlined the concert which also featured heart-throb, Trey Songz and Miguel, who, according to MTV, we should be keeping our eye on in 2011.

With a discography that spans more than 15 years, Usher’s set showcased his growth as an artist and took fans on a musical journey. With a backdrop that offered full production, including explosions and fireworks, Usher arrived to the stage after being elevated above the crowd, seemingly flying in to Monstar, what an opener.

Just like Monstar’s lyrics remind you, Usher brought it all to the stage, “captivating, perfection, innovator, seductive, superstar, music, unparalleled, sexy, world renown, dance, tempo, spotlight, passionate…” and it just got better from there. He performed a multitude of hits which included, She Don’t Know, Daddy’s Home, There Goes My Baby, My Boo, Yeah!, BurnYou Remind Me, You Don’t Have to Call, and Nice and Slow just to name a few hits from his six studio albums (which combined have easily sold more than 100 million copies worldwide).

It was his tribute to Michael Jackson, after he requested the audience’s permission to fill his shoes, which endeared Usher that much closer to the hearts of his fans. With a red leather jacket and glitter shoes to match, Usher didn’t stop until we had enough as he perfectly moon walked, kicked and did his best impersonation of MJ in homage.

“The one thing that I learned personally from Michael is, you know, it’s all about making history, being mindful of history when you’re creating. You know, don’t get so caught in the moment. Be mindful that each and every thing that you do speaks for the history of who you are as an artist. That’s hard work.” - Usher

He levitated over the crowd once again after bringing one special lady on the stage for an up-close-and-personal serenade of his hit song, Trading Places. What we witnessed was very similar to this clip of Usher and Jordin Sparks (American Idol Winner) when the tour stopped in Arizona:

To close the show, Usher reminded us where the tour received its name when he performed OMG! Overall, Miguel, Trey Songz and Usher gave Nashville a great show, it was a great way to end 2010 and now The Queen’s Castle is looking forward to what each artist does in 2011!

@MigMoney “Sure Thing”

I was at Bridgestone Arena on Monday, December 26 to witness Miguel perform “Sure Thing” live when he opened for Trey Songz and Usher during the OMG Tour. His performance and vocals were on point. If you missed his photos in the most recent, “Through the Lens” series, click here.

When I interviewed living legend and R&B crooner El DeBarge last year, he shared that Miguel is one of the artists that he’s listening to; MTV says he’s one of the artists to watch in 2011 and I’ve witnessed with my own eyes that he’s a sure thing! <3
