More than four thousand teenagers and young adults from all across the globe descended upon Nashville, Tennessee for the Always Sisters Forever Brothers (ASFB) conference held at Belmont University’s Curb Event Center from July 21 to July 23, 2011. Founded under the umbrella of Sharing the Vision, a non-profit organization founded by gospel music artist CeCe Winans, the conference aims to equip attendees with practical life changing information to help them overcome issues faced by their generation.
For three days, the conference attendees participated in a balance of informative lectures and presentations from expert speakers with a variety of entertainment and a grand finale closing concert hosted by David “Mr. Brown” Mann that brought the most talented gospel artists in the industry to the ASFB stage. The conference’s key note message, “You Are a Winner,” was delivered by CeCe Winans. She used her platform to share a message of hope by bringing light to situations that compromise and plague the environments where young people are expected to thrive. Using the story of David and Goliath, she literally slayed the giant, while stressing the importance of being equipped with the Word of God.
Other insightful lectures by Ashley Love, Matt Pitt, LaCrae, and Dr. I.V. Hilliard were poignant, as were the attendees response to panel discussions: What You Think About You, Oh Daddy, Where Art Thou?, Sick and Tired: HIV/AIDS/STDs and Love or Lust. The panels presented a number of expert speakers including: Drs. Keith & Leslie Churchwell, Chef David Owens, Karynthia Phillips, Kim Daniels, Janet Boynes, Brian Hockett, Nancy Alcorn, Mercy Ministries Graduate Monica LaPlante, Dr. Diedra Jackson, Wess Morgan, Pastor Horace Hockett, Warren Ballentine, Chris Sanders, Onnie Kirk, and Beverly Johnson, who all enhanced the information being shared while upholding the conference theme. Timely and relevant, the panels brought conference attendees face-to-face with the realities of fatherlessness, homosexuality, drug addiction, infatuations and relationships. Two panelists living with HIV shared their stories and encouraged more than 70 young people to be tested on-site.
Engaging and fun, the entertainment weaved throughout the conference program made it that much more enjoyable. Dance troops, step teams, spoken word, singers and the Praise & Worship team that opened every segment kept the audience captivated. The Christian Comedian Akintunde is on his 2011 Rebirth of Comedy Tour, and he brought wholesome funny back. His hilarious storytelling and superb timing put everyone in the right mood to witness the fashion show that came up next, which featured clothing, accessories and shoes from event sponsors Belk in Cool Springs, Smack and Posh.

Letoya Luckett’s loyal fans stood outside in the rain for a chance to get an autograph and picture from their favorite singer, actor and entrepreneur. Not only is Luckett one-fourth of the original multi-platinum selling group, Destiny’s Child, she is the owner of two boutiques in Houston, Texas and the face of Luster’s Pink Smooth Touch. Today she was in Nashville at Dollar General to promote the product while giving away prizes, gift cards and other goodies to fans.
During her visit, Luckett wanted The Queen’s Castle’s readers to know that she’s planning to release her third solo effort at the top of the year. LeToya is also making her way back to the big screen in the film, From The Rough, which stars Oscar nominee, Taraji P. Henson in the role of Catana Stark, who became the first women to ever coach a college men’s golf team at Tennessee State University. Luckett plays the role of “Stacey,” and we’re told she “gives a tough but vulnerable performance that will thrill her fans around the globe.” LeToya will be joined on-screen by Oscar nominee, Micheal Clark Duncan (The Green Mile) and Tom Felton (Harry Potter). While in Detroit a few weeks ago, LeToya encouraged event goers to support the albums that were recently released by her former Destiny’s Child members, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland. The Queen’s Castle wanted to know if she in fact owned those albums, and if so, what were her favorite songs from each offering. LeToya says, “I have both albums and they are amazing, you should go out and support as well.” She also told us that her favorite song from 4 is Beyoncé’s, I Miss You, she’s also rocking to Kelly’s Motivation, and said her other favorite from Here I Am is Feeling Me Right Now.
For two hours through rain showers and on one of the hottest, humid days in Nashville, Tennessee, LeToya was all smiles for her fans, she made sure every person in attendance that wanted a photo and autograph received one, true royalty with a “Smooth Touch” indeed!

Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole’s (@SistaBAMM) “Back to You” Live Recording
It is written that ‘where two or three are gathered in His name, He is present’ (Matthew 18:20). The Church is the body of people that worship Him, not the location or facility where worship occurs. On a Friday night, at the S.I.R. Recording Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, where portions of Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole’s upcoming album was recorded, we had Church.
Back to You is the album’s working title and in the clip above, you will hear “The Rose of Gospel” elaborate on it’s meaning. Her single of the same name is making its way up the charts on gospel stations nationwide. The calling and anointing on her life, and voice are evident. Her family’s contribution to gospel music will forever leave an indelible mark on the history of the genre.
During the live recording, radio contest winners, media and guests enjoyed featured tracks from what promises to be one of the hottest gospel albums of the year! With producer Alex “Asaph” Ward on the keys, Clark-Cole shared For My Good, He Brought Me, Holy One, and God Will Take Care of You, which ushered a sweet spirit of worship and praise. Fans awaiting another Clark Sisters release will be pleased by Thank You, which is written by and features her sister, Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark-Terrell. The album’s family affair does not stop there, Clark-Cole closed the recording with the upbeat jam God is My Everything, written by her son Greg “Jay” Cole.
If you enjoy gospel music, this is one of the album’s to look out for this year! For more information on Dorinda Clark-Cole’s new album releasing on Light Records, visit her website, Facebook, Twitter or Amazon.

I can’t lie, as a fan of Anthony David’s music, I’ve been rocking to 4EverMore since 2009; although the visuals just made it to YouTube courtesy of Koch Records earlier this year.
“Forever is a long time and I really want to spend it with you.” Forever, ever? Forever, ever? This track is haute.
The single, 4EverMore is from David’s upcoming album, As Above So Below. He’s presenting a “Special Album Release Concert” at Jazz & Jokes in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, March 25. Anthony’s coming to Nashville’s Jazz & Jokes a few weeks after Avery Sunshine hit the stage; he has the lead role in her video “All In My Head!”

Music City Soul Series :: @DarnellLevine and @DamienHorne
The Nashville Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (NCVB) has been celebrating Black History Month by hosting a weekly concert series at B.B. King’s featuring the best acts in Jazz, Blues, Soul and R&B. Every Thursday night in February, a live band and artist has taken the audience on a musical journey. This week is your last chance to get on board for this soulful adventure.
I attended the Soul Series on it’s opening night, Darnell Levine was in the building. I heard a lot about him, his artistry, commitment to craft, but I may as well be from Missouri’s “Show Me” state. There are some things you have to see for yourself. You know?
Levine’s posture on stage showed that he was at home. His ability to bring the audience in, while belting sounds that put you in mind of a 21st Century Bobby McFerrin, were simply refreshing; the band was tight too.
This week Damien Horne hits the stage! He has a predominant vocal swag and will wrap up this year’s Soul Series nicely. He was in the audience and then on the stage during Levine’s performance. Listen to Horne’s Baby Doll, here.
Please believe, if you’re in or around the Nashville area, B.B. Kings is where you want to be on Thursday, February 24 at 7 PM!
Every day since Valentine’s, fans of the former Floetry member have been treated to Early Mornings with Marsha Ambrosius. By way of her website, Ambrosius is giving fans a preview of her upcoming album, Late Nights and Early Mornings, by sharing snippets of the songs with commentary.
In the clip above, she talks about the album’s concept and how she came up with the title; more videos from Marsha, here. The album is scheduled to drop on March 1 and I love the way Marsha and her team are introducing this first-solo debut.
If you’re in the Nashville area, you should be pleased to learn that Marsha Ambrosius will be here on BET’s Music Matters Tour with Melanie Fiona (courtesy of LoveNoise); tickets are on sale here.
